Location: Lake Forest High School West Campus Salary: The starting rate is $38.85/hour. Description: The Registered Nurse uses clinical knowledge and professional judgment in providing nursing health care to students and staff. The registered nurse strengthens and facilitates the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers and uses early detection to aid in the prevention of illness and disability. In addition, provides office support to the certified school nurse to deliver comprehensive school health services. The ESY dates are from June 10, 2024 through June 27, 2024, Monday - Thursday mornings from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm. There will be no school on June 19, 2024. Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred)
Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Valid Illinois Registered Nurse License
Valid CPR/AED Certification
Experience working as a registered nurse - preferred

Essential Functions:
I. Nursing Care
Triages and provides professional nursing care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards, school policies and procedures, and state mandates
Implements first aid measures as needed
Administers daily and PRN (as needed) medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student’s physician
Assists certified school nurse with coordinating vision & hearing screenings and other health screenings as directed by supervisor
Participates in maintaining and updating cumulative health records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical exams, medical conditions and related archival responsibilities
Collaborates with Certified School Nurse to plan and implement school health management protocols for students with chronic health problems, including the administration of medications
Disseminates health care plans to teachers through PowerSchool and emails
II. Communication
Communicates with all stakeholders to enhance cooperative action to meet the health and safety needs of students
Maintains medical waivers and communicates with Wellness teachers, assistant athletic director, and counselors
Collaborates with teachers, LRC case managers, deans, and counselors regarding student behavior and attendance
Promotes health education and services to enhance the health and wellness of the school community
Records state mandated health records for every student; follow up with parents as needed
III. Organization
Documents patient care services in Powerschool
Monitors all student files for reported medical conditions, checking entries into PowerSchool and assuring teachers are notified twice per year, once at the beginning of each semester, or anytime there is a change in condition or accommodations
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Prepares and maintains all first aid kits
Checks AEDs once per month for proper functioning, expiration dates and presence of first aid supplies.
Compiles data for statistical purposes
IV. Professional Responsibilities
Maintains confidentiality of school matters
Develops and maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, and collaborating with peers
Stays current regarding state and national regulations for FERPA, physicals, immunizations, and health action plans
Models high standards of professionalism in all situations
Makes appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter
Performs other job related duties as assigned by direct supervisor
Adheres to Board of Education policies and procedures
Physical Demands & Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetition motions are required, especially for keyboarding which involves substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and up to 50 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside environmental conditions and is subject to noises associated with both office and educational environments.
