    Starting salary: $60,000, commensurate with experience
    Description: The Lead Custodian regularly and directly assists the LFHS Facilities Supervisor and the Director of Facilities in the daily operation of the custodial operations at both LFHS East and West Campuses. The Lead Custodian schedules and supervises general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning, event set ups and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary.
    Essential Functions:
    Custodial Supervision
    • Supervision of all District custodians and weekend watchman
    • Assign special projects to custodial staff
    • Assist the Facilities Supervisor on the overseeing of the 2nd shift outsourced custodial firm
    • Inspection of buildings to ensure the 2nd shift service is accomplishing their tasks
    • Coordinate and direct custodial staff with extra curricular activities and event set-ups
    • Assign substitute custodian for anyone who is ill or on vacation
    • Supervise temporary help which may be hired for seasonal needs
    • Assist the Director of Facilities and the Facilities Supervisor in promoting personal safety, safety procedures, and safe working environment for all district employees for the purpose of ensuring the efficiency and effective operation of all district facilities
    • Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out their administrative duties.
    • Works in a collaborative manner with all intergovernmental bodies and other community organizations
    • Providing 24/7 support for emergency custodial needs at any hour of the day or night as the need arises
    • Conduct annual reviews of all district custodial staff and weekend watchman
    Maintaining and Cleaning
    • Strip and wax floors as required.
    • Maintains and cleans floors, walls, glass, doors and ceilings throughout the District (classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, gyms etc.)
    • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, dusts and washes as necessary
      • Assists with lunchroom duty and cafeteria clean-up
    • Cleans restrooms, basins, bowls, mirrors, etc. as required
    • Assist with cleaning of delivery van
    • Responsible for maintaining paper storeroom and equipment storeroom
    • Maintains and cleans floors, through-out the academic storeroom, and receiving dock
    • Assists with lunch duty and cafeteria clean-up
    Supplies
    • Organize and load delivery truck with daily mail to the outlying buildings
    • Arrange for and deliver custodial supplies to buildings
    • Assist custodians with maintaining supplies
    • Unload trucks when needed
    • Assist with moving furniture, boxes to outer buildings
    Equipment and Maintenance
    • Repair vacuums, chairs, pencil sharpeners as required
    • Assemble furniture and equipment as required
    • Assist with furniture moving and classroom setups
    Electrical
    • Assist with minor building repairs and preventive maintenance
    • Change light bulbs in classrooms and areas as required
    Repairs
    • Performs minor building and equipment repairs and preventive maintenance
    • Replace ceiling tile as needed
    • Repair or replace toilet paper holders, paper towel dispensers, pencil sharpeners etc., as required
    Grounds
    • Coordinates and assist the Grounds crew with mandatory snow removal as required
    • Performs minor exterior landscaping when needed
    Other Duties
    • Checks and secures building at beginning and end of shift for the purpose of ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the building
    • Accomplishes all other related tasks and duties as determined by the Director of Facilities or the LFHS Facilities Supervisor
    Qualifications:
    Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred)
    • High School Diploma or GED, required
    • Prior K-12 custodial experience, required
    • Valid Driver’s License, required
    • Computer Skills, required
    Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
    • Reasonable knowledge of cleaning equipment and techniques
    • Dependable, organized, thorough, and trustworthy
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal) with students, staff, and supervisors
    • Ability to supervise, schedule, and train custodians
    • Comfortable and pleasant demeanor in very busy environments
    • Maintain professional appearance
    • Follow all Board of Education policies
    • Ability to read and follow directions
    Physical Demands and Work Environment:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee regularly is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is regularly required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 80 pounds of force frequently, and up to 50 pounds of force constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    In the work environment, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in school environmental conditions (offices, classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and gyms, etc.) The employee frequently works in the evenings or on weekends. The employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally works with the use of a personal vehicle. The employee will have contact with the public which requires appropriate demeanor and apparel. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, cold, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gasses, chemicals and hazards associated with moving mechanical parts and vehicles.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with regular exposure to loud hallways, cafeterias, or sports crowds.
