Aerial Ladder Assembler

SUMMARY:

Assemble the component of the aerial ladder and mount to the chassis. This position requires individuals with strong mechanical abilities. They perform work with hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical components of the truck. Individuals in this position are required to work with a variety of hand tools and power tools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Mount hydraulic valves and components.

· Install diamond plate and trim to turntable.

· Mount torque box to chassis.

· Mount superstructure to chassis.

· Mount outrigger structure to chassis.

· Install and mount small components (i.e. rung covers, side rollers, rasp assembly and slide pads, etc.) to ladder, truck and turntable.

· Run power cables and harnesses.

· Mount electrical components.

· Run hydraulic hoses.

· All bolts above ½” must be torque to specifications.

· Complete pinning of cylinders.

· Assist with and perform duties defined in all levels of assembly positions.

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma or equivalent experience

· Ability to use basic hand and power tools.

· Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements.

· Ability to work in a team environment.

· Ability to maintain attendance within company guidelines.

· Ability to retain and apply instructions.

· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

· Basic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.

· Strong mechanical aptitude and abilities.

· Knowledge of Hydraulic valves, pumps, cylinders and hosing

· Knowledge of 12 and 110 volt wiring

· Experience building mobile equipment or truck assembly is benifical.

· Must be very detail orientated.

· Ability to read and understand trucks specifications document

· Ability to use and maintain equipment

· Ability to read, communicate and understand in English

· Ability to assess and apply the best process to complete the project.

· May assist with the training of associates.

· Self sufficient, self motivated

· Ability to work under extreme pressure and tight time tables.

· Work overtime on short notice

· Ability to work within safety guidelines

· Must be self-motivated

· Must be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks

Shift Hours: 5:30am - 4pm Monday-Thursday; 30 minute lunch

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
