La Plata Electric Association is Hiring a Purchasing and Warehouse Manager Near Durango, CO

Job Summary

The Purchasing and Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the warehouses and purchasing for the Association. This position manages the timely acquisition of supplies and equipment to meet the Association's needs by selecting vendors and procuring materials and equipment for all areas of operations. The Purchasing and Warehouse Manager reviews purchase requests, invoices for compliance and payment, and coordinates activities involved in procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. This position also oversees the organization's inventory and warehouses, including executing transfers between warehouses, maintaining organized storage areas, and accurate records. They are responsible for supervising warehouse employees and ensuring that work is performed safely and efficiently while maintaining good working relations among employees and departments.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains up-to-date records of minimum stock levels, reorder points, and purchase order quantities.
  • Assists with proper record retention for company documents and compliance with related policies and legal requirements.
  • Manages the requisition workflow process.
  • Assists department managers and supervisors to ensure that all information necessary for proper accounting records is complete and correctly reported.
  • Determines market lead times to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
  • Assembles documents for the annual capital items budget and formulates the monthly reporting of capital purchases to the board of directors.
  • Directs and completes licensing the fleet vehicles.
  • Assists with timely and accurate submission of Property Tax Reports.
  • Reconciles Plant and Depreciation Accounts monthly.
  • Participates in the Quality Control Committee to evaluate the Association’s standards for materials used in line construction.
  • Maintains an open line of communication between Warehouse, Engineering, Field Operations, and Finance.
  • In conjunction with the requesting department, issues requests for quotations, bid invitations, and requests for proposals for material and equipment purchases.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations.
  • Coordinate, develop, and supervise designated team.
  • Coordinate work assignments and tasks as needed.
  • Plan and schedule assigned work.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience

  • This position requires a combination of either a 2-year or 4-year degree in business, accounting, or supply chain management or comparable certification and five years’ experience in accounting, inventory management, or purchasing. Previous supervision experience is required.
  • Accounting, record keeping, administrative skills, and experience with computer office systems, including Excel, are required.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, cost evaluation, and negotiation techniques.
  • Knowledge of the RUS Uniform System of Accounting and GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) is preferred. Experience with an electric utility is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Compensation

Annual pay rate- $87,845-$108,184
