Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Security Officer to join our team. As a Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients and employees. Your primary responsibility will be to enforce security protocols, monitor surveillance systems, and respond to any security incidents that may arise.

Duties:

  • Bilingual Spanish-English or Haitian Creole-English
  • Exercise proactive monitoring of all premises, assets, and personnel to ensure safety through regular walking patrols, surveillance systems, and effective communications;
  • Offer technical assistance to staff to maintain safe, orderly environment.
  • Monitor personnel and vehicular access to the site. Manage access control measures to regulate entry into the site, verifying credentials and directing visitors, as needed;
  • Develop and implement trauma informed, culturally sensitive security practices. Deescalate situations and restore calm, while exhibiting cultural sensitivity, empathy, and tact;
  • Exhibit an approachable, welcoming demeanor, while providing excellent customer service;
  • Keep punctual, accurate log books of daily events, personnel arriving and departing facility, and incidents.
  • Prepare and file incident reports, as needed. Compose and submit nightly reports to supervisors;
  • Coordinate emergency response and evacuation activities during emergencies. Function as the main point of contract for emergency personnel;
  • As directed, perform investigative work, including, but not limited to, interviews, searches, and information collection;
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, as directed;
  • Prioritize cultural safety and sensitivity, specifically with Latinx and immigrant communities, in all facets of work; and
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:
-

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian-Creole)
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • 2-4 years of security experience, with higher rates of pay available for seasoned officers, preferably in human services or healthcare;
  • Must be over 21 years old;
  • Knowledge of standard security policies, procedures, and practices;
  • Experience working in immigrant and multi-cultural communities;
  • Demonstrable track record of working independently and dependably completing work;
  • Highly skilled at written and oral communication, as well as tactfully interacting with people through a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach;
  • Excellent ability to carry out responsibilities independently as well as collaboratively as a team;
  • Capable of being adaptable, agile, and proactive;
  • Detail oriented, methodical, and organized, with excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Experience working in an innovative manner, tackling challenges and assignments in unconventional ways or on tasks that require creativity;
  • Background in excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experienced at creating and implementing systems to remain organized and complete tasks on-time; and
  • Empathetic and compassionate, with a strong sense of community.
