We provide services to males ONLY, 18 years and older dealing with behavioral health issues. No Personal Care.
We have two Behavioral Health Residential Facilities located in the northwest of Peoria, AZ. First house is a 7-bed and second house is a 10-bed residential facility. Our goal is to provide a safe and loving environment for our clients, assist in self-administration of medication, help work towards self-sufficiency and achieve the goal set in their personal treatment plan. Currently looking for a BHT at our 10-bed BHRF.
We care about the well-being of every individual and we ensure that only staff members who are trained or certified will conduct assistance in self-administration of medication and residents will receive the proper counseling needs.

Regarding pay, there's room to get a promotion based on quality of work delivered.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Must be willing to travel with residents to gym, park, movies, bowling, doctor visits, AA meetings, etc.
- Preferred to know how to work apps on a cell phone and send emails.
- Preferred to know basic cooking and cleaning skills (if not that's ok just follow recipes)
- Willing to be trained to learn on being a part of our team and work together to help residents.
- Will be doing a one hour group on your shift with all residents.
- Progress notes to be made every shift.
- Must be able to handle multiple assignments at a time.
- BHT must have the willingness and ability to work under situations and times of extreme stress.
The Behavioral Health Technician performs routine patient care duties and selected non-professional services under the direct supervision of the House Manager and Administrator
REPORTS TO: Administrator, House Manager, Clinical Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate required.
- Attains minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, and other related health fields (preferred).
- At least one year of previous experience in a psychiatric setting (preferred).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties set forth below describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a Behavioral Health Technician. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of a Behavioral Health Technician since those duties include all tasks requested by the supervising Administrator and House Manager to meet the needs of the Facility.
- Educate residents with materials provided by facility for group every day.
- Follows instructions given by all nursing personnel and outlined in policies and procedures.
- Identifies medical problems and reports to the supervising Administrator and House Manager.
- Identifies alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing the differences between illusions, delusions and hallucinations; Is consistently aware of safety issues regarding patients and takes action, when indicated, to prevent patient harm; Communicates these issues to the supervising Administrator and House Manager.
- Identifies alterations in mood, recognizing potential for self-harm or other high-risk behaviors; communicates these issues to the supervising Administrator or House Manager.
- Provides care to patients in a manner that considers safety, patients' rights, comfort and the therapeutic environment.
- Performs patient checks every 15 minutes, as ordered by the physician, and more often if required.
- Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients in a timely manner and completes necessary documentation.
- Observes patient behavior and reports this information to the appropriate nursing staff; documents observations in progress notes.
- Assists in applying protective devices under the direct supervision of the supervising Administrator or House Manager and completes proper documentation. BHT must have completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and otherwise re-review training materials on a yearly basis.
- Utilizes the Individual Treatment Plan and any specific treatment plans in determining interventions with patients; keeps treatment plans updated; reviews treatment plan with patient.
- Remains in patient areas whenever possible to assist patients and visitors. Notifies supervising Administrator and House Manager prior to leaving unit and otherwise adjusts lunch and break times (if any) to meet Center needs.
- Sets limits in a therapeutic and consistent manner on a patient's behavior with the assistance of the supervising Administrator and House Manager within program and age-specific guidelines.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior with appropriate interventions on a daily basis.
- Identifies verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and applies de-escalation techniques to situation.
- Intervenes to decrease the panic of disturbed patients under the direction of the supervising Administrator and House Manager; Uses the necessary intervention to de-escalate situations involving disturbed patients.
