Position Title: Finishing Machine Operator

Job Summary

• Inspect, spool, slit, rewind, or cut jumbo stock from production or finished goods for customer orders on a daily basis.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Utilize finishing order to process all orders according to customer specifications
• Ensure the proper material is converted for each customer order (color & label checks)
• Confirm the proper widths of rolls prior to starting order
• Confirm correct length of rolls after converting
• Make sure the correct machine settings/tension are used for each order
• Pool material from Stock and to Stock
• Report all issues in regards to a finishing order to the appropriate management parties
• Process all information in SAP using the correct scrap codes
• Manage all off cuts correctly according to the Precise Program
• Work with material handler to minimize all downtime
• Certify all outgoing rolls to the customer are in pristine condition

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to static pull up to 84 lbs; static push up to 60 lbs; lift up to 50 lbs from the floor
• Must be able to work in both the sitting and standing position
• Must be able to climb and step onto uneven surfaces
• Must be able to recognize improperly running machine and make corrections on the fly
• Must be able to monitor performance of machine and product and change operating parameters as necessary
• Must be able to use an overhead crane
• Must be able to drive a sit down forklift (Involves lifting body weight onto sit down lift)
• Must be able to drive a stand up forklift (Involves stepping onto a work platform and using a joystick controller to move 1200 pound product rolls then place them onto pins)
• A typical day involves lifting a 75 pound roll shaft five times per day (the number of times may be exceeded in an atypical day)
• A typical day involves lifting product rolls weighing up to 100 pounds on average 2 times per day (the number of times may be exceeded in an atypical day)
• Must be able to cut into layers of product rolls (up to 4 ft cuts)
• Must be able to change blades on machines (finger dexterity)
• Must be able to thread product through various parts of a spooling machine (finger dexterity)
• Must be able to splice product rolls after removing bad product (ID bad product, remove bad section with knife, splice ends with tape, rethread if necessary)
• Must be able to complete paperwork & alert to identify bad product
• Must be alert to avoid injury (cuts, entrapment in moving equipment)

Experience & Education

• Experience with slitting / rewinding machine is a plus.
• SAP experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

• Machine Operating: 1 year (Required)
