Position Description:
The Compliance Department acts as the internal quality control for the Bank, ensuring that employees follow all regulations and policies for the benefits of the Bank and its clients. As a Compliance Analyst, you will be responsible for performing regulatory compliance duties under the direct supervision of the Compliance Officer, to assist in the development and maintenance of a strong professional compliance program and to ensure that all banking rules, regulations, and statutory requirements are met.
Job Responsibilities:
Attention to Detail
Review and process adverse actions for commercial loans (make sure that the reasons for adverse actions are accurate and make sense; check to see if the form is filled out completely; where applicable process Factual Data Denial Notices to be mailed out; process adverse actions for Imaging)
Review and process all HMDA loans (export data from Laser Pro and Compliance Reporter; make necessary corrections; import data to CRA Wiz; train/mentor lending staff on HMDA if necessary)
Review and process Consumer Residential Mortgage Adverse Actions Processing
Perform Compliance and Internal audits, FDICIA Control testing and Bank Secrecy Act duties
Assist in reviewing procedures and policies to ensure accuracy
Review Community Reinvestment Act data to ensure accuracy
Time Management
Have awareness of all due dates and be able to organize and prioritize work effectively to meet those deadlines
Have the ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple tasks, as required
Perform Residential and Commercial Adverse Action Notices Review on a daily basis (know the time requirements for the submission and mailing of adverse action notices for applicants)
Submit HMDA scrub on a monthly basis
Communication
Bring to the attention of supervisor in the compliance department any discrepancies discovered through the performance of duties
Be able to write and speak professionally
Maintain a calm demeanor when working with internal clientskeep emotion out of voice and email communications
Adverse actions (be able to contact loan officers in person or via phone and/or email to obtain further information, new documentation, or to have the loan officer resubmit a file; maintain open communication with loan system administrators to discuss adjustments to access or alternative form options)
Policy Compliance
Know regulations regarding adverse actions, including KS StateBank specific procedures and the required timelines for completion
Know federal regulations including: Equal Credit, HMDA, BSA Beneficial Ownership, Truth in Lending, RESPA, Flood, etc.
Professional Knowledge
Gain an understanding of bank policies and procedures
Have the ability to read and decipher applicable regulations
Know and understand federal regulations as applicable to assigned tasks and duties
Must be able to apply regulations to tasks and duties in order to ensure compliance
Know where and how to research regulations in order to find information relevant to job duties
Use that knowledge of procedures, policies, and regulations to effectively communicate with, coach, and mentor bank staff when performing reviews of Adverse Action Notices
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High School Graduate or GED required; Associates or undergraduate degree preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting, business administration, finance or economics preferred
One to two years previous banking and/or compliance experience strongly preferred
Strong decision making, analytical, and investigative abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
Display irreproachable integrity, confidentiality, and objectivity
Continuous knowledge development of compliance regulations and their application to the Bank
General knowledge and understanding of consumer lending, mortgage lending, commercial banking, operations and compliance functions
Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the following software programs: Synergy; Jack Henry; LaserPro; Credit Quest, CRA Wiz, Encompass, 4Sight and edit and/or comment on PDF documents
Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
Strong project management skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Able to view a computer screen for long periods of time
Must be able to speak and listen clearly both in person and on the phone
Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy
This job may require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently
