Summary:

The staff accountant role will directly report to the assistant controller and controller. This position is expected to have a strong sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities, and have a basic understanding of accounting principles. The staff accountant serves as a liaison between our ranches and corporate support services. 

The staff accountant’s responsibilities also include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining a general ledger, and performing a considerable volume of data entry. 

Responsibilities

•Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile vendor/customer statements and invoices

•Perform monthly account reconciliations

•Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending

•Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

•Effectively handle and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.

•Assist with property and sales tax returns

•Answer phones

Qualifications

•Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar type role

•Strong analytical skills

•Comfort with Excel and basic formulas

•Excellent writing and verbal communications skills

•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail a MUST

•Ability to work independently and collaboratively

•Positive personality, attitude and professionalism
