The Staff Accountant I position supports the Accounting Supervisor and/or Senior Accountants by performing monthly account reconciliations, submitting, and distributing monthly reports, reviewing and entering invoices, and creating and maintaining spreadsheets and charts used in monthly reporting in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” The position also writes and processes journal entries, assists in preparation of audit schedules, and assists in research of monthly financial statements.

Pay Rate: $19.21 - $26.77 per hour
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the preparation of monthly reports and analyses
  • Reviews and enters invoices
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets, charts, databases, etc. used in the monthly reporting and analysis
  • Performs tasks in monthly closing process as assigned, including preparation of journal entries, running reports and queries, performing research and analysis, etc.
  • Prepares and enters account adjustments and accruals
  • Works closely with Accounting Supervisor or Senior Accountants to resolve any/all identified issues
  • Completes assigned account reconciliations monthly
  • Reviews monthly reports in connection with the assigned account reconciliations
  • Reviews invoices and payments to allocate to assigned accounts
  • Implements steps for resolution of identified issues as outlined by Accounting Supervisor
  • Provides backup to mission-critical activities, special projects, and analyses as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Accounting or Finance, Management, or General Business with concentration in Accounting
  • College Degree Preferred
  • 0-2 years of practical experience in account reconciliations, general ledger, and reporting
  • 1-3 years administrative/clerical experience
  • 1-3 years customer service experience

Physical Demands & Competencies:

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Basic knowledge of Cognos, Hyperion, or Crystal Reports

Work Environment:

  • Noise: Quiet
  • Indoors
