Summary:

The Executive Director, Youth Sports Development will be a critical member of the Nuggets, Avalanche & Mammoth marketing teams. This role is responsible for leading the development, planning, and execution of the Nuggets, Avalanche & Mammoth youth sports strategy. This position will oversee and lead Nuggets, Avalanche & Mammoth Youth Sports departments, with the objective of growing connection, participation, and revenue generation for the three sports. The position will serve as a mentor and leader to the Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth youth sports staff. 

Nature of Work:

  • Lead development and execution of all three teams’ youth programming and grassroots event platforms, which include, camps, clinics, tournaments, skills challenges, combines, coach’s clinics, and character development programming.
  • Oversee and lead Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth youth sports department teams, both full-time and part-time staff. 
  • Manage and oversee youth departments budget and install fiscal management systems. 
  • Develop new programming with key marketing and community partners designed to support and improve youth sports for youth, coaches, and parents.
  • Set comprehensive goals and plans to achieve performance and growth. Evolve the reporting of key youth sports reporting metrics.
  • Represent the Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth at the executive/senior level in developing relationships with key local youth sports leaders both in the private and public sector.
  • Developing positive relationships with individual youth sports departments leads to developing relationships with local and national Basketball, Hockey and Lacrosse governing bodies. 
  • Develop and execute marketing and communications plans with internal stakeholders to drive awareness of youth programs that positively reflect on each franchise. 
  • Implement and monitor the youth sports department members understanding and implementation of a safe and caring environment for all youth program participants. 
  • In collaboration with leagues (NBA, NHL & NLL) and youth sports leads ensure that all league-based programs such as NHL/NHLPA/IGF programs are successfully implemented in accordance with league regulations. 
  • Lead efforts and drive new initiatives designed to positively shape the Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth perception in the local youth community and by each team’s fan base.
  • With specific team youth department lead, create, support and drive development of youth sports content and curriculum, including instructional resources for coaches and players.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum
    1. BS/BA degree in field or related field 
    2. Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and management skills including personnel development, fiscal management, and stakeholder relationships. 
  • Substantial experience and familiarity with the local youth sports community leaders and structure.
  • A strong understanding of youth sports community programming. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, exercise flexibility, and demonstrate sound professional judgement. 
  • Experience working cross-functionally with ticketing, sponsorship, creative, and content teams.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and persuasively (both verbally and in written form)
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently & in a group setting and demonstrate good judgment skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to changing environments.

Compensation:

  • Salary range $100,000 to $110,000
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
