About The Function

Summary:

Our client provides highly engineered solutions used to create some of the world’s most innovative products. With operations in the United States and China, they provides thin film deposition and etch solutions used for a wide array of applications used in the optoelectronics market including; precision optical filters, lasers, IR detectors, sensors and micro-displays. The technology portfolio includes sputtering, ion beam etch, e-beam & thermal evaporation, ion-beam-assisted deposition (IBAD) and plasma-enhanced-chemical-vapor deposition (PECVD). Our client is currenlty moving from a high mix, low volume operation Engineer to Order model to a market driven, platform/product Configure to Order business model. The Plant Controller will have responsibility for all accounting-related activities, including budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, financial reporting and managing payroll related duties performed by HR.

Description: 

  • Providing leadership, direction and management of the accounting and human resources team. Reviewing all formal finance, HR and IT related procedures.
  • Providing assistance to CEO/president and members of the executive management team for strategic planning and preparing operating budgets.
  • Implement standard costing of products including material costs, engineering costs, production costs and installation costs.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy for raw material, work in process, and finished goods.
  • Maintains fixed asset records of the company, prepares capital expenditure requests and justifications.
  • Responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, sales tax and other applicable tax laws
  • Ensures the accurate completion of all required reports and analyses e.g. month-end and year-end closings, financial forecasts, financial analysis, annual audit, financial KPIs (inventory turns, cash conversion cycle, AP/AR ratios, etc).
  • Collaborate with other departments drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying root cause of issues and developing strategies and tactics to improve.

Requirements & Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or Economics MBA considered a plus.
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years’ experience with financial management in an high mix/low volume manufacturing environment with track record of continuous upward progression throughout their career; with 7 of those years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and creating financial reports & dashboards using the ERP is considered a plus.
  • The ability to recruit, motivate, retain and have a history of growing talent is required.
  • Association membership or certification in accounting or finance is a plus.
  • Experienced change agent

  • Savvy business mind that is strategic, conceptual and operational oriented
  • Lead effectively by clearly communicating expectations while following through on deliverables.
  • Ability to build trust at all levels and a willingness to be “hands-on”.
  • Comfortable in a small, fast growing organization where you must “wear many hats.”
