Shift: First Shift

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Fabrication Technician fabricates Ground Support Equipment for internal use and Production programs, including alteration or modification of existing equipment/assets as needed. Performs activities aligning with production schedule and cost objectives. Additional tasks include manufacture of carts and other production support equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manufactures PSE (Product Specific Equipment) and GSE (Ground Support Equipment).
• Works multiple different projects concurrently and efficiently.
• Works on fabrication of parts, utilizing welding, electrical and other mechanical assembly skills, as required.
• Basic welding skills including lay-up, tack and finish welds in TIG and MIG
• Saw Operation
• Deburring, drilling, and tapping of holes
• Drill press operation
• Machine maintenance
• Must be mechanically inclined and have experience using hand and power tools.
• Follows first-time-yield quality initiatives.
• Responsible for the quality of manufactured products.
• Maintains a clean and secure work area, following the 5S Standards.
• Completes work in accordance with set schedules.
• Forklift certifiable.
• Is a good steward of company tools and resources.
• Able to read and understand blueprints and technical publications
• Must be able to use a variety of precise measuring devices
• Communicates effectively, both written and verbal.
• Complies with established QMS procedures.

Fabrication Technician I

• Works under limited supervision.
• Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math skills.
• Must be able to interpret and work from industry specifications.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to navigate around files.
• Requires high school education or equivalent.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Fabrication Technician II

• Preferably 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a fabrication role.
• Demonstrated ability of Level II duties and responsibilities.
• Works under minimal supervision.

Fabrication Tech III

• Preferably 5 year’s hands-on experience in fabrication and manufacturing.
• Works with very little Supervision.
• Assists the Production Supervisor in planning and coordinating work.
• May provide training to lower-level Fabrication Technicians upon supervisor’s request/approval.

Experience and Skills:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Must perform and/or assist all activities normally found in fabrication of PSE, GSE
• Must be able to work on feet all day while bending, lifting and crouching
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules
  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience in a variety of fabrication disciplines.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with other employees.
• General contracting experience/skills.
• May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, grasping, stooping, kneeling, climbing.
• Working with a variety of hand tools, power tools and other related equipment.
• Occasionally lifts and carries objects weighing up to 50lbs.
• Works in non-temperature controlled environments.
• Works in confined spaces.
• Utilizes hand and power tools
• Works with industrial chemicals and adhesives such as epoxy, grease, oils, and cleaners.
  • May work from a variety of surfaces, level or unlevel, when performing job duties.
  • May work extended hours or weekends.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, hazardous materials and dust.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • Employee may generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
