KRA Corporation is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Columbia, MD

SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Accounting and Finance Supervisor, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintenance of all general ledger accounts, and supports payroll processing, month-end close and financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post monthly cost allocations;
  • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts;
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries;
  • Assist with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements;
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports;
  • Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable;
  • Assist in budgets and forecasts;
  • Assist with payroll administration;
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process;
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures;
  • Monthly expense variance analysis;
  • Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing;
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies;
  • Manage Fixed Assets;
  • Responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager on special projects;
  • Other ad-hoc accounting duties as assigned.

  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product.
  • Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills; detailed oriented with superb organizational and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors and customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance/, or accounting from an accredited college or university and 2-5 years related accounting/contract experience (a combination of qualifying education/experience may be considered); 
  • Minimum of 2 -5 years in accounting/grant administration experience is preferred. 
  • Mastery of MS Excel.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and ADP Workforce Now highly preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and other Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook). 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk and hear. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
