Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Hybrid - Columbia, MD
Conversion Salary: $80,000 - $85,000
Job Type: Contract to Hire
The Accountant will assist aspects of general clerical, payroll, book-keeping and various monthly financial responsibilities. They will be responsible for maintaining positive customer and employee relations on various Government Projects.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Preparing financial analyses and reports.
- Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
- Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
- Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts using QuickBooks.
- Investigating and resolving account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance.
- Supporting the development of pricing methodologies, data prep, validation, and analytics
- Preparing invoice for government contracts and submitting via WAWF and/or other government portal
- Creating and monitoring excel spreadsheets for various projects.
- Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
- Day to day collaboration with Human Resources and Contract Management regarding payroll, billing and timekeeping
- Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- 3 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with Quickbooks and Paylocity preferred.
- Microsoft Office, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Well organized, detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Ability to train and manage staff.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
