Kosmos Cement Co, LLC is Hiring a Terminal Operator Near Pittsburgh, PA

General Job Summary 

The primary responsibility of the Terminal Operator at Pittsburgh is to actively conduct the day-to-day terminal functions to ensure proficient customer service and to always ensure a safe work environment. This will include, but will not be limited to: equipment maintenance, coordination of facility activities while ensuring strong customer service. The Terminal Operator will work under the general supervision of the Terminal Manager and be responsible for following Kosmos/Eagle management directives, policies, and procedures.

This position will be responsible for equipment maintenance related to the coordination of barge activities and truck traffic on the site. This position will participate in inbound barge unloading, bulk truck loading, and other activities as directed.

An overarching responsibility of this position is to ensure the safety of all personnel and activities onsite. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all site activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner, while adhering to safety regulations and established operational procedures.
  • Participate in safety and operational training.
  • Immediately report and, if necessary, work with Terminal Manager to investigate all safety-related incidents.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and site recordkeeping is maintained. Report all deviations in a timely manner should any occur. 
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service at all times. This must include sound and accurate communication for all activities related to inventory, barge management, and the loading of product into customer trucks. A professional decorum must be displayed at all times.
  • Devote full energy to communicating in a timely and accurate fashion with management personnel and service providers / contractors.
  • Exhibit strong mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting abilities. 
  • Devise and implement preventative maintenance practices with Job Safety Analyses, as appropriate. 
  • Demonstrate ability to use and instruct in the use of dispatch computers and printers. Ensure accurate Bills of Lading is maintained at all times.
  • Assist with management of spare-part inventory levels, and perform maintenance recordkeeping. 
  • Alert appropriate management personnel, should any customer complaints be received regarding product quality or service. 
  • Organization and processing of paperwork, computer tracking, scheduling, etc. as needed to load cement from the silo to customer trucks to meet customer needs.

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • Maintenance experience in an industrial environment, construction, ready-mix concrete, and/or cement-related industries is a strong plus.
  • Electrical maintenance experience is a plus
  • Proven communication, interpersonal skills, and good computer skills
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, and overtime as required 
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, as needed (10% or less)

Salary Range

  • $21 - $25 per hour, depending on experience
