Kosmos Cement Co, LLC is Hiring a Supervisor Electrical Near Louisville, KY

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Electrical Engineer, the Electrical supervisor is responsible for the coordination and execution of electrical maintenance activities. The Electrical supervisor works directly with the hourly workforce and often interfaces with production, shipping, procurement, and mechanical maintenance to optimize uptime and reliability.

Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Electrical Superintendent 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the safety of reporting employees and ensure adherence to all safety protocols and goals.
  • Develop incoming talent in the electrical department and build a culture focused on reliability excellence.
  • Ensure quality of work achieved during repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of preventative/predictive maintenance activities.
  • Aid in the construction of weekly, monthly, and outage schedules.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system to create, track, and schedule work orders.
  • Work with department leadership to develop parts lists for jobs and other projects.
  • Maintain compliance and record keeping for all NFPA/MSHA inspections. Actively participate in routine inspections.
  • Plan and schedule emergency work orders as necessary.
  • Participate in “on-call” rotations to aid the plant in needs outside normal business hours.
  • Work with procurement and vendors directly to order materials and services as necessary.
  • Aid in the development and execution of capital projects as necessary.
  • Coordinate electrical blackouts to service all necessary equipment in a timely fashion.
  • Develop critical spare components lists for various plant assets.

Competencies:

  • Interpretation of electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Troubleshooting of complex electrical systems for multiple power types/voltages, induction/synchronous motor systems, power distribution systems and substations.
  • Base knowledge of instrumentation and controls.
  • Knowledge of lubrication practices for rotating machinery (specifically motors).
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment including installation of MCC’s, breakers, switchgears, metallic and non-metallic conduit.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be experienced with preventative/predictive maintenance activities.
  • Must be able to work during off-shift hours, nights or weekends as required by the plant.
  • Must be able to work in hot/cold environments for extended periods. The engineer often oversees work in the field and can be required to be outside >50% of the day.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and coordinate multiple jobs/projects simultaneously.
  • Must be capable of learning to utilize computerized maintenance management system.
  • Must be willing to attend trainings and seminars to expand knowledge of the role as required.

Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

  • Ten years of progressive experience in industrial electrical work with journeyman leadership experience.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering plus 5 years plant experience.

Salary: Commensurate with experience level.
