Kopp Glass is Hiring a Logistics Specialist Near Pittsburgh, PA

Kopp Glass, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of high-performance, custom glass products, is seeking to hire a Logistics Specialist to support day-to-day supply chain operations including purchasing, planning, inventory management, and coordination activities. The focus of this support role is on the coordination of planning processes to achieve the effective distribution of goods, while monitoring supplier performance, and supporting the purchasing functional area through supplier development and procurement. The ideal candidate will bring a “roll up the sleeves” approach to getting things done in a highly organized manner while remaining agile to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Kopp Glass manufactures custom technical glass solutions across several market segments, including aerospace and defense, safety and signal lighting, energy and power distribution, and industrial, scientific, and medical equipment. The Logistics Specialist’ primary responsibility is to support internal stakeholders while increasing the visibility of end-to-end supply chain operations. This position requires someone who is action-oriented, who takes the initiative with a sense of urgency. We are looking for a self-disciplined person who can handle details and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of effectiveness in fostering a “one team” mindset and have a track record of getting things done through a proven ability to motivate and inspire others to act.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting day-to-day supply chain operations including purchasing and product receipt coordination.
  • Collaborates with Procurement Manager to implement strategies that incorporate plant procurement activities, manufacturing resource planning, inventory management, and inbound supplier logistics (as needed) to assist in the improvement of departmental efficiencies.
  • Supports the flow of raw materials and delivery products from suppliers to customers. Reviews purchasing orders and shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and proper stock management, reordering in a timely manner to avoid production downtime in close collaboration with Purchasing Manager and cross-functional operational management.
  • Supports supplier performance for critical external suppliers. Works with the Procurement Manager on supplier evaluations and ensuring secondary suppliers are maintained.

  • Displays creative and critical thinking skills to apply to processes improvements and root cause determinations.
  • The ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of purchasing or supply chain experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Basic understanding of financial accounting and analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new ERP software and other technology quickly.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
