POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction and supervision of the Community Development Program Director, the Child Care Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of the Play & Learn Child Care Classroom at the YMCA, develop and implement a daily program curriculum, and supervise staff caregivers and children. Play and Learn is a member benefit for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Creating a nurturing environment of warmth and friendliness, staff lead children through a variety of fun and safe playtime activities.
This position can be a full-time or part-time position. A full-time Supervisor will work a split shift (Monday-Friday 8:00am-1:00pm and 4:00pm-7:00pm). A part-time Supervisor can work 8:00am-1:00pm or 3:30pm-8:00pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide direct care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years for members.
2. Plan and implement program activities and curriculum.
3. Keeps accurate records of attendance (sign in/out records), incident reports and special needs as specified by parents.
4. Supervises the children, staff, classroom, and all activities with keeping safety a top priority.
5. Practices infection control procedures and proper hand washing.
6. Maintains cleanliness of classroom and equipment.
7. Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes all children.
8. Upholds the Y’s child protection policies, and child abuse and neglect guidelines, and proper reporting procedures.
9. Manages the programs resources responsibly.
10. Maintains a positive attitude toward children and their families.
11. Maintains confidentiality and treats all families with dignity and respect.
12. Participates in the Y’s annual campaign promotion and special events.
13. Follows emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follows procedures for reporting incidents and hazards.
14. Develops program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
15. Performs all other duties assigned.
