The Estimator – Production is responsible for estimating the costs of projects for commercial buildings. This involves reviewing project plans, specifications, and other relevant information to determine the materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete the project. This is a hybrid role with a minimum requirement of 1 day per week at our Roseville office.

The Estimator – Production Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Collaborates with the Bid Coordinator to determine and select opportunities for bid.
  • Records activities related to bid invites and bids submitted, declined, or won in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Reviews project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work, labor and materials required, and project timelines.
  • Assesses projects to identify labor, material, costs, and time requirements by researching bid invites, blueprints, contracts, and any other related documents.
  • Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing information and negotiate favorable terms and pricing for materials and services.
  • Prepares and submits bid proposals to potential clients and responds to requests for proposals (RFPs) per company policies.
  • Prepares professional bid proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project manager per company policies and procedures using estimating software.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Generates leads through relationships with General Contractors, owners, agencies, consultants, etc.
  • Conducts on-site visits to assess the condition of the building and the existing system, when needed.
  • Stays up to date with industry trends, new products, and construction techniques to provide accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Negotiates and reviews contracts for accuracy consistent with bid scope.
  • Participates in pre-construction meetings and provides guidance to project managers and other team members to ensure successful project completion.
  • Completes Job Plan/Estimator Hand-off Packet for the Project Manager.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position.

  • Education and/or Experience –Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering preferred; or one or more years of estimating experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns and connecting ideas.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient knowledge of working with word processing documents, creating, and managing spreadsheets, using databases, internet navigation, email communications, presentation/slideshows, and enterprise systems, and industry related software.
