Job Description: Commercial Manager

KNL is on the lookout for a Commercial Manager to join our team, operating closely with our client’s project. This role is key to supporting the project need for capital/facility delivery contract administration and commercial management. The successful candidate will manage the prime contract on a multi-billion-dollar capital project, implementing our client’s Prime Contract Management Program and establishing contracts administration procedures. This includes the responsibility for training project personnel occasionally and supporting prime contract administration and claims identification, necessitating close liaison with key internal customer areas such as Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the delivery of capital projects, ensuring compliance with project business processes.
• Serve as a liaison between internal and external parties during contract development and negotiation stages.
• Implement and maintain a contracts management program, including a contract responsibility matrix and a contracts requirements action list.
• Ensure contractual notices and entitlements are properly administered and comply with prime contract terms and conditions.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with contract ambiguities, omissions, and conflicts.
• Develop programs to mitigate and resolve contractor claims.
• Participate in project meetings to ensure awareness of actions impacting the prime contract.
• Report the status of current contract processes to management.
• Analyze potential risks related to contract changes.
• Ensure compliance with all governance processes at all times.
• Coordinate the development and delivery of project training on prime contract management principles.

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, engineering, business administration, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, or law.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
• Strong understanding of Capital projects with project management skills.
• Analytical and organizational skills with the ability to plan and implement projects.
• Demonstrated commercial skills with experience in pricing, contract law, contract drafting, administration, and negotiation of change orders.

This is a remote position with travel to the project site or contractors’ site on an as-needed basis. If located near the project site, the Commercial Manager can choose to be on site more frequently.
