Knife River - Southern Oregon Division is Hiring an ASSISTANT REGION CONTROLLER Near Medford, OR

We have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Region Controller in Medford, Oregon!
Responsible for maintaining adequate and proper ledger accounts of all assets, liabilities and transactions of the company and ensures that audits are performed as directed. Prepares and reports financial results that conform to generally accepted accounting principles and internal control requirements. Interacts with managers, supervisors, sales personnel and department heads. Prepares and/or manages the development and administration of the company’s financial operating plan and five-year forecasts.
Job Duties:
1. Manages the accounting department, including staffing needs and career development.
2. Prepares, supervises and/or reviews journal entries and accounting transactions affecting general ledger accounts; audits the account balances and oversees the preparation of monthly financial statements.
3. Prepares and/or directs the coordination, preparation and administration of the company annual operating plan, quarterly updates and five-year forecasts.
4. Maintains adequate accounting records of all assets, liabilities, and transactions of the company.
5. Assists in determining depreciable rates. Assists fleet managers and operations personnel with various equipment and PP&E analysis and reporting requirements.
6. Prepares and interprets financial statements, cost data, and management reports of the company. Assists other executives, managers and supervisors in analyzing financial results, as needed.
7. Prepares and/or directs the coordination of other external reports to government agencies and third parties as required.
8. Coordinates processes to ensure accounting controls are adequate for the protection of assets and the reliability of financial and management information reporting.
9. Ensures that bank statements and other general ledger accounts are reconciled.
10. Manages various external audits (sales tax, property tax, etc.)
11. Provides assistance and/or directs the coordination of special projects or activities within operating departments.
12. Manage audits with internal and/or independent external auditors.
13. Assists with due diligence for potential acquisitions and integration of completed acquisitions.
14. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
15. *Must maintain confidentiality to the highest degree and have superior analytical abilities and team building skills.
16. *Must maintain the highest level of moral and ethical standards.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
2. Five years related experience preferably in the construction materials industry
3. Three years of experience in supervisory role
3. Strong analytical and financial skills
4. High ethical and moral standards
5. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
6. Advanced computer skills using spreadsheet, presentation, databases & accounting software
7. Advanced knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
8. Accounting experience in general ledger accounting and auditing; financial forecasting and budgeting and financial reporting
9. Exposure to and experience with Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements desirable
10. Professional communication skills including written and verbal for internal and external customers
11. Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and expectations with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
1. CPA certificate preferred
2. Accounting experience in the construction industry
