Knape Vogt is Hiring a Staff Accountant II Near Grand Rapids, MI

Job Description Summary

The Staff Accountant II is primarily responsible for accounting functions for domestic and international entities. The responsibilities for this position include assisting with the month-end close process, preparing monthly reconciliations, analyzing/explaining account fluctuations, sales reporting and managing IC Transactions. This position is also responsible for sales/use tax reporting and compliance reporting across the organization including foreign subsidiaries. 

The duties and responsibilities of a Staff Accountant II may consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the month end closing process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules for internal and external financial reporting and compliance purposes
  • Analyze, interpret and report performance trends for orders, sales, and pricing. Identify areas performing outside of expected results in order to provide senior management with insight and recommendations.
  • Analysis and financial reporting as it relates to sales, sales compensation, pricing, and gross margins
  • Assist with implementation/upgrade of the ERP
  • Support the year-end financial audit and tax preparation process with external auditors and tax consultants
  • Responsible for sales tax filings and updating the company sales tax database as tax rates change
  • Assist with tax provision schedules for domestic and international entities
  • Work cross-functionally with company departments and external partners
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of processes and procedures as company expands into other new and established markets
  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Work Experience: 2 years’ experience working in an accounting or finance department
  • Education: BS or BA in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Organization Skills: Above average organizational skills, ability to multi-tasking and shift priorities as needed
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer service
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information.

  • Physical Environment: Normal office environment; manufacturing and warehouse environment and exposure to moving equipment 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Work Experience: 3 years’ experience working in an accounting or finance department in manufacturing; experience work with international and domestic tax regulations and provisions
  • Education: BS or BA in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook). Prior experience working with Oracle, SAP, or Infor ERP
