Klingberg Comprehensive Program Services Inc is Hiring an Occupational Therapy Assistant Near New Britain, CT

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Education and the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, provides professional judgment and clinical knowledge to develop individualized programming based on occupational performance deficits in areas of personal care, student role, interaction skills, process skills, play, education, community integration/work, and graphic communication.

Typical Duties/Responsibilities:

Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrates findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develops individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals, which are recommended by the PPT process.

Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.

Consult with school-based team to achieve student outcomes.

Adapt and modify the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.

Participate in the process of educating students, educational personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety, when recommended by the PPT process.

Document occupational therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.

Adhere to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.

Review occupational therapy services for quality improvement and makes changes as needed to ensure quality of services.

Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student’s occupational performance.

Maintain treatment areas, equipment and supplies required for serving students.

Education/Experience/Other requirements:

Associates Degree, CT State Licensure and successful completion and graduation from an accredited occupational therapy assistant professional program and completion of all fieldwork requirements. Prior experience as an occupational therapist assistant preferably in a school system or other pediatric setting. Acquisition and maintenance of certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and CPR/First Aid required.

Duration: 10 month position
