POSITION TITLE: Workforce Development Manager

Position Summary
The Workforce Development Manager is pivotal in connecting individuals in our Apprenticeship Program with meaningful employment opportunities to ensure successful completion of the on-the-job training (OJT) portion of their apprenticeship. To meet the diverse needs of apprentices, OJT matching will include placing apprentices with employer partners (based on apprentice skill and employer need), providing ongoing professional development, and facilitating apprentice job search activities. This position focuses heavily on building and maintaining solid relationships with employer partners and industry representatives.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Build and maintain relationships with employer partners and workforce development agencies to ensure diverse OJT offerings.
- Collaborate with food service industry representatives to understand workforce needs.
- Identify, prospect, and cultivate relationships with new potential Employer Partners, negotiate and finalize contracts in collaboration with Director of Programs; ensure KFG is compliant with all signed contracts.
- Gather labor market information, talent demands, and skills requirements to create workforce development strategies.
- Develop short and long-term solutions to address employer talent gaps. This can include direct job placement, temp to hire contracting, subsidized externships, and high-touch job search support. Ensure that temp to hire placements are meeting Employer Partner expectations during the placement period. Address and resolve issues as needed.
- Lead team in assessing apprentices to determine what OJT Pathway they are best suited for. The assessment should include a combination of training observation, one-on-one interviewing, and instructor evaluations.
- Provide regular feedback to instruction and training team members to ensure training activities meet industry needs.
- Collaborate with non-profit organizations, community colleges, and employer partners to develop ongoing professional development opportunities for apprentices to accelerate their career growth.
- Collaborate with KFG’s social enterprise managers to provide transitional OJT for apprentices needing more training prior to external placement.
- Serve as the employment database expert, ensuring data is entered and maintained in a timely manner.
- Track and report on outcomes, analyze trends, and identify future needs and opportunities.

Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and two years of progressively responsible work experience in workforce development or an equivalent field; OR four years of progressively responsible work experience in workforce development or an equivalent field.
- Familiarity with workforce development programs that serve individuals with barriers to employment.
- Demonstrated success in industry or community engagement, relationship management, sales, marketing, or related fields.
- Experience in creating talent pipelines or talent acquisition. (preferred)
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
In addition to the office, this job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time non-exempt position with a working schedule on-site of Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, however occasional evening and/or weekend may be required.
Travel:
Employee will be expected to travel to as needed, to additional KFG locations, and overnight travel may be required. Employee must have driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to work across multiple sites.
