Kitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Procurement Manager to join our Bay Area region in Dublin, CA and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.

Overview

Oversees the development and implementation of requirements for budget and cost set-up, forecasting, recording, processing, and reporting. Additionally, this role analyzes GMPs, budgets, standards, reports, performance monitoring, and control functions on a major construction program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and implement financial set-up, forecasting, recording, processing, and reporting procedures, processes, and standards
  • Ensure that financial procedures and guidelines are meeting the client’s needs and are being consistently followed
  • Present ongoing executive summary and detailed analyses to management for use in status updates and leadership decisions related to balancing of adjustments in project direction / resource concentration
  • Analyze project financial performance against budgets and collaborate with program and project managers for strategies
  • Implement and monitor effectiveness of accounting, invoicing, and project management software Systems
  • Work with field units and ensure timely responses and updates on all building projects Support the prequalification process
  • Review and assist project teams with monthly cost reporting, including cash flow
  • Lead and/or support the training of project management staff on financial controls on an ongoing basis and as required
  • Attend and support project kick-off meetings
  • Research and recommend Document Control Software and Project Management Software and establish standardized procedures for their use
  • Audit project reports and data to ensure the quality of project information is accurately reported
  • Build a strong and diverse team by continually recruiting and selecting competent and talented people
  • Create a mentoring environment for direct reports including individual professional development and comprehensive training plans
  • Effectively measure employee performance and hold direct reports accountable for meeting their goals, while providing timely and honest feedback in a constructive and non-threatening way
  • Pursue own developmental goals and keep up to date with industry changes that could increase operational efficiency
  • Make decisions and solve problems using sound reasoning and judgment within a framework of business priorities
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders (management, clients, peers, and support areas) to achieve common goals
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as needed

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field is required
  • 10 or more years of progressive and position related work experience in financial and controls management and responsibility for construction programs is required
  • 5 or more years of experience managing and developing diverse teams, effectively measuring performance, and providing timely feedback is required

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of principles and best practices in managing financial controls is required
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of Tools is required
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to foster and maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required
  • Ability to gather and interpret technical or abstract data to resolve extraordinarily difficult and uncommon problems is needed
  • Ability to provide management and technical support to multiple teams of professionals is required
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with construction scopes of work, including scoping, procurement, and management is preferred
  • Experience with alternative procurement methods with public clients is preferred
  • Experience with construction estimating practices is preferred

License and Certifications

  • CCM or PMP is preferred

Travel Requirements

  • This position is site based embedded at the client location in Dublin, CA
  • Travel within the immediate region may be required as a Kitchell employee, and a valid California driver’s license is required

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment and frequently works in a construction environment. Conditions occasionally include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is regularly moderate and occasionally loud.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the position is moderately active and the employee is required to regularly sit, talk or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently stand, walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 5 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds.

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $170,000 - $190,000. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members. The annual base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, in the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
