Major Gifts Officer (847)
Fresno, CA

The Major Gift Officer will be prepared to assist in finding donor prospects; a process that involves analyzing factors that predict a donor's ability and enthusiasm to give. At times, the Major Gift Officer will work closely with prospect researchers to determine the best candidates for the organization’s major giving program. This position is designed to be a link between the organization and major gift prospects. The Major Gift Officer will be responsible for actively seeking major gifts, building valuable relationships with major gift prospects, and directing prospective donors through the donor pipeline process with ease, to acquire major donations.

How will I contribute

  • Coordinate the major gift program and communications between prospects and the organization
  • Determine the direction of major giving program
  • Conduct and implement prospect research
  • Attend fundraisers & develop fundraising strategies
  • Select major gift prospects for cultivation
  • Build relationships with major donor prospects
  • Solicit donations from major gift donors
  • Design an effective major gift donor stewardship program
  • Manage a portfolio of donors, foundations, corporations, and churches, raising funds equal to or greater than predetermined goals.
  • Meet with donors and ask for major gifts to Kings View, generally $5,000 and up.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of in-person donor meeting and solicitations that includes 12-15 pre-arranged donor meetings per month to either conduct a significant step toward a major gift or make an actual solicitation.
  • Appropriately utilizes the CEO and lead program managers in developing relationships with donors and proposals for donors.
  • Uses moves management philosophy to cultivate prospects and current donors by mail, telephone, and personal meetings
  • Implements action plans for individual donor development and other key prospects like foundations
  • Implements strategies for identifying potential prospects and growing donor base
  • Represents Kings View appropriately at miscellaneous events, networking and nurturing new and existing relationships
  • Achieves annual revenue and other targets in areas of responsibility
  • Executes plans to provide exceptional donor recognition and stewardship
  • Maintains up-to-date records on both prospects and donors in Salesforce or other relevant software
  • Participates in educational programs, professional organizations, and development activities to maintain knowledge of national trends and promote leading-edge performance.

What I bring

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field
  • 5 years experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, sales, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience of successful relationships working with donors in closing gifts of $5,000 or more.
  • Managing prospective donors, reporting to superiors and coordinating with fellow fundraisers
  • Knowledge of the philanthropic community.
  • Must have an extensive background in fundraising.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all programs, understanding program strengths/challenges and the strategic vision of the organization.
  • Must excel at drafting direct mail letters and giving solicitation presentations, ability to work through the challenges of prospect relationships and rejections, ability to manage a variety of interactions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be comfortable requesting a major-gift-size sum of money
  • Experience in Salesforce. Education in fundraising management, fundraising-related preferred
