The Kingdom East School District is seeking an Art Teacher who will teach kindergarten through eighth grade students at Miller’s Run, Newark and Sutton Schools. This contract is a one year contract only. The ideal candidate will design and present exciting lessons (painting, drawing, sculpting, computer art, digital media, etc) that actively engage all learners and build an appreciation and exposure to a wide variety of media. Opportunities include involvement with student art displays, contests, and preparing props for school performances. We have a professional community of integrated arts teachers who meet weekly to support common practices and contribute to special projects in the school. Knowledge of Responsive Classroom and/or Developmental Design techniques, and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports are preferred. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT have numerous fine and performing arts venues.
