King's Daughters is Hiring a Senior Advance Practice RN-Outpatient Care Near Ashland, KY

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Senior AP will be responsible for enhancing and advancing the role of advanced practice nurses and physician assistants (AP will reference both APRN and PA in this document) in the health system. The Senior AP will serve as a resource for AP recruitment, recognition and retention, scope and collaborating practice models, credentialing and prescriptive authority, roles and responsibilities of supervisory physicians, orientation, regulation and policy issues, student placement, school relationships, teaching skills and serves as a liaison between advance practice team members and leadership. The Senior AP will work in collaboration with the AP committee and leadership to support AP’s across the system and positively contribute to the success of the health system and day-to-day operations in accordance with current state, federal and local standards and guidelines. 
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Dedicates 8 hours/1 day per week to duties.
    • Contributes to the leadership, direction and support of AP’s in regard to practice, decision making, planning, organizing, developing and communicating.
    • Assists in interviewing, mentoring, and training employees; planning, appraising performance; rewarding, coaching and discipline; serves as a point of contact for APs in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Works in collaboration with various departments throughout the health system to become a strong clinically integrated network; Develops a strong working knowledge of the various online performance dashboards and operational tools critical to the successful practices; Communicates clearly and often with direct reports and foster an environment of teamwork and trust; Develops practices that are patient centered and reviews monthly perceptions of care to drive change where needed.
    • Has an understanding of the financial and customer aspects of the practices and works with mangers to stay within the approved FY budgets; Assists in developing and implementing the strategic long­ and short-range plans that are in line with the goals of the health system; Represents and interacts with other professional and community groups.
    • Identifies and escalates concerns. Participates as a division representative on various committees in the hospital environment and communities served.
    • Enhances operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment and high-quality patient care; recognizes the vital role of customers in the organization and provides assistance, cooperation and service 100% of the time as part of the daily work.
    • Contributes to the success of the organization by participating in organizational and customer service/employee relations action plan programs, keeping current on new developments within the health system and by performing other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • 5 years’ experience.
      • Maintains active license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and any other states as applicable. 
      • Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
      • MSN. Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program

    • Constantly exposed toblood and/or body fluids andinfection.
    • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
    • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
    • Frequently required to walk and move about.
    • Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
    • Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
    • Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
