Annual Fund Directors (two positions); Manager, Development Services; Manager of Donor Research & Strategy; Development Data and Research Analyst; Development Services Coordinators (two positions)


Summary:

The Managing Director, Annual Fund and Development Services oversees the establishment and implementation of strategies for the Annual Fund and Development Services functions of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts. This role oversees a comprehensive, multi-channel plan for annual giving revenue generation, and provides strategic oversight and direction for the department’s budget process, gift recording, reconciliation with Finance, and the running and creation of development reports and analytics.

This role collaborates widely with Marketing, IT, Audience Services, Finance, and Development leadership to create a best-in-class annual fund and development services operation. It will also be responsible for the creation of a robust donor pipeline and maximizing patron relationships with The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts.


Essential Functions:

  • Direct and promote growth of fundraising programs and campaigns across various channels, including but not limited to: online, social media, email, direct mail, peer to peer, etc.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of low-level giving strategies, including creating compelling stories for all campaigns. Achieve annual revenue goals, track program results and provide analysis.
  • Work closely with Stewardship and Events to develop effective stewardship strategies for Annual Fund donors ($9,999 and under), including a progressive donor recognition/benefits program and tracking mechanisms, to ensure the building and retention of donor relationships.
  • Oversee the analysis of data to create effective direct mail and other fundraising campaigns for donor acquisition, upgrades, and retention.
  • Maintain a portfolio of 40-50 individual households by cultivating, soliciting and stewarding their giving through visits at performances and events, outreach via phone, email and direct mail.
  • Oversee dynamic portfolio management for the annual fund team, ensuring the continued development of a robust donor pipeline for all levels of the giving pyramid.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication and collaboration to ensure program success with Marketing, IT, Audience Services, Programming, Education and Community, and others as needed.
  • Oversee all aspects of donation, gift recording and acknowledgement processes and propose modifications, alternatives, and/or new strategies. Ensure information is accurate and timely.
  • Provide oversight for the creation and maintenance of Development specific reporting needs and ensure senior management reporting needs are met.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with finance team and oversee reconciliation, monthly budget updates and ongoing forecasting.
  • Maintain budget files, provide oversight for organizational budgeting process and expense budgets.
  • Oversee quality control procedures to maintain all donor information in Tessitura. Ensure the delivery of ongoing training for Development on Tessitura and other computer applications.
  • Oversee the management of prospect research and prospect pool management.
  • Oversee collaboration with IT in organizing all Development related database upgrades and implementation processes. Embrace emerging technology, related applications, and tools.
  • Provide oversight and ongoing review of gift acceptance policies in adherence with industry standards. Ensure the organization remains in full compliance with all IRS rules and guidelines.
  • Oversee all acknowledgement and tax receipt processes to ensure timely and accurate gift acknowledgements to donors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in annual fundraising and/or development services required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience with relational databases and constituent data management required; Tessitura experience preferred.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational, writing, speaking and interpersonal skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong technical, financial and analytical skills with a firm grasp of data-driven processes.
  • Outstanding planning skills, including ability to anticipate problems and plan effectively.
  • Strong management, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues in Development and other departments including Finance, Marketing, Programming and IT, among others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Fundraising database required; Tessitura experience preferred.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines, and to prioritize projects in a busy work environment.
  • Commitment to the mission and programs of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc., including an interest in classical music, the performing arts and arts education programs.
