Overview:

Kimley-Horn's San Diego, California (CA) office is currently seeking a Transportation Planner with 4 years of experience to join our Transit team. This is an in-office position and not remote.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a leader in a growing, multidisciplinary transit practice.
  • Manage the planning, production, and delivery of transit projects, with a particular focus on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and Passenger Rail.
  • Apply knowledge of concept development, performance evaluation, federal programs, funding sources, and community outreach to support the advancement of transit programs.
  • Assist clients with program management, capital planning, and policy development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Effectively communicate directly with clients, community leaders, and agency staff to provide updates, propose recommendations, and address concerns or questions.
  • Foster the growth and professional development of junior staff.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to quality.
  • Balance priorities among multiple projects to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) license or Professional Engineering (PE), or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Minimum of 4 years of transit-focused experience.

Salary Range:

$90,000 to $125,000
