Kimley-Horn is a leading transportation engineering firm specializing in providing innovative solutions for public and private sector projects. With a strong reputation for excellence and a commitment to delivering high-quality results, we are seeking an experienced Transportation Civil Engineer to join our team as a Project Manager. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including those in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and other related agencies, along with Municipal projects as well.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing transportation projects from conception to completion. With your extensive experience in the field and your knowledge of Municipal and related project guidelines, you will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with clients to ensure successful project execution. You will be involved in all aspects of project management, including planning, design, coordination, budgeting, and client communication.

  • Lead and manage transportation projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to establish project goals, objectives, and requirements.
  • Mentor, train, and support design staff and EITs by providing technical expertise and guidance, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and data collection to inform project planning and design.
  • Develop and review transportation engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, EITs, surveyors, environmental consultants, and construction personnel, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage project budgets, including cost tracking, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform project risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Review and approve project deliverables, including design documents, reports, and construction plans.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their concerns, providing progress updates, and managing expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Minnesota, or the ability to obtain within 6-months of employment.
  • 8 years of experience working as a Project Manager in transportation engineering, preferably with a focus on Municipal projects.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT guidelines, standards, and processes.
  • Proven experience in managing transportation projects, including design, construction, and quality control.
  • Proficient in transportation engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, SYNCHRO, HCS).
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in transportation engineering is a plus.
