Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in the Princeton, New Jersey (NJ) or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PA) office! The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years of professional environmental consulting experience, including conducting wetland delineations and state and federal permitting.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of professionals to help clients evaluate sites and navigate environmental regulations for land development, transportation, energy, and water resources projects
• Support field efforts on natural resource surveys including, but not limited to, wetland and stream delineations, vernal pool identification and surveys, and threatened and endangered (T&E) species habitat assessments
• Draft scientific reports to convey the results and implications of natural resource surveys
• Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local permit applications

Qualifications

Skills and Attributes

• Relevant environmental field experience including wetland and stream delineations, T&E species surveys, habitat assessments, etc.
• Demonstrated experience working with NJDEP, PADEP, NYSDEC, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or other regulatory agencies, and familiarity with their regulations
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills, including the ability to find, create, and manipulate data as well as create figures using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro.
• Ability to identify and describe wildlife, plants, habitats, and ecological communities and a desire to learn more
• Experience drafting scientific and technical reports
• Team oriented with a strong capability to motivate others
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to allow for effective communication with clients, regulators, subconsultants, and colleagues in other office locations or disciplines
• Ability/willingness to work in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather and travel to project sites, including multi-day trips to project sites throughout the northeast
• Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, natural resources, wetland science, soil science, ecological sciences, botany or related field
• 2-5 years of professional environmental consulting experience, including experience conducting wetland delineations and State and federal natural resource permitting required
