The Wellness Center Associate will operate the Wellness Center as scheduled or in the absence of the Wellness Director. The Wellness Center Associate will check in residents and guests entering the facility and monitor the pool and equipment room during business hours. The Wellness Center Associate will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting all equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

Oversee operation of the Wellness Center:

• Open and close the Wellness Center according to established operating protocol
• Check in each visitor, ask screening questions, take temperature as necessary
• Watch the pool on the monitor in the office to assure safety
• Clean and disinfect pool and equipment room after use
• Be available to fill in for the director as needed on short notice
• Perform duties with little or no supervision
• Monitor Saturday morning open exercise and open swim

Oversee various classes and activities:

• Oversee water aerobics, low-impact aerobics and arthritis classes (water and land)
• Oversee strength training, balance and coordination classes
• Oversee other classes and activities as requested
• Notify residents/members when class is cancelled due to weather, etc.
• Document class attendance

Facility and pool maintenance:

• Assist with maintenance of the facility and equipment
• Check equipment room and ensure cleanliness including vacuuming, wiping down equipment, check and clean ledges and under equipment
• Ensure the pool is vacuumed, brushed, checked and chemicals are balanced and pool backwashed
• Perform hot tub maintenance including balancing chemicals, monthly drainage and refill

Ensure safety of residents/members:

• Contact nurse for health emergency via emergency call system and if appropriate call EMS
• Report accidents or incidents to the Executive Director according to federal, state and facility policies

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age
• Prior work experience in fitness and exercise instruction preferred
• Must have current CPR and First Aid Certification. (Basic Life Support)
• Prefer certification as a group fitness instructor or CPT from a recognized certification provider
