Patient Services Float

Kidney Specialists of Southern Nevada (KSOSN) provides comprehensive kidney care and a full spectrum of kidney disease management resources for residents of Southern Nevada. Our care team educates and empowers patients who are living with kidney pain, infections, stones, and other kidney problems. With this exciting opportunity you will be joining a seasoned team of 50 Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians Assistants, as well as 80 team members across eight locations.

We are looking for a dynamic Patient Services Representative to join our growing team.

This position will work a 9/4 schedule. Work schedule will be Monday to Thursday, 7:30 am to 5pm OR 8am to 5:30pm and Friday 8am to 12 noon.

Position Summary

The Patient Services Float is a cross-trained position that can work most of the Patient Services and Front Office positions. This position is responsible for assisting with incoming & outgoing authorizations & referrals, insurance verification, incoming & outgoing medical records, training, incoming and outgoing postal mail and supports the KSOSN team where possible.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides patient services to all patients.
  • Answers phone calls, assists with the caller’s needs, and directs callers to the correct department.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal & financial information.
  • Uses knowledge of payers and their processes to ensure we receive appropriate authorizations and referrals for upcoming appointments and all outgoing orders.
  • Completes all Medical Records processes, including sending and receiving requests, fulfilling the requests, and updating the tracker.
  • Obtains medical records for new and hospital follow-up visits.
  • Makes outgoing calls to patients regarding their referral, authorization, or medical records.
  • Assists with incoming and outgoing mail duties.
  • Assists with the call center needs for any escalated tasks items.
  • Assists with reviewing, adding, & editing clinic templates
  • Assists with auditing provider clinics.
  • Assists with rescheduling patients.
  • Assists with scheduling CKD, CKCC, & procedure appointments.
  • Manage incoming efax and send faxes to the correct team or individuals.
  • Assists with calling patients with updates on their referral or authorization status.
  • Assists with insurance verification & obtaining incoming referrals.
  • Assists front desk with coverage when needed. (need to be able to check in and out)
  • Pages KSOSN providers.
  • Tracks and records metrics.
  • Manages personal metrics ensuring they are meeting or exceeding the team average.
  • Maintains up to date and accurate patient files.
  • Follows all HIPAA practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Required to receive the influenza vaccine annually.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of patient representative experience or equivalent required. Experience must be in a fast-paced healthcare environment with extensive knowledge of referral and authorization requirements.
  • Must have knowledge of payers.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with data entry proficiency.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to change and support new policies and procedures in a positive manner.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and satisfactorily communicate with others in English in person, over the phone and via email.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
