Keystaff Inc is Hiring a Sanitation supervisor Near Fort Myers, FL

The Sanitation Supervisor provides strong leadership to the Sanitation team to achieve full plant compliance with all personnel safety, food safety, sanitation / cleaning requirements pertaining to all federal, state and customer requirements and food safety and manufacturing standards .

The Sanitation Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of up to 10 employees and must maintain a positive relationship with all employees and management staff.

The Sanitation Supervisor position is a working position who is responsible for the daily management of Sanitation and Cleaning Services.

  • Coordinate and publish work schedules to accomplish sanitation daily mission.
  • Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
  • Reviews and oversees the Plant Sanitation Program, including working with Cleaning and Sanitation Chemical supplier(s) to determine best cleaning and sanitizing agents and methods for maintaining Company and Regulatory cleaning and sanitizing standards.
  • Completes associated documentation in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Conducts investigations and root cause analysis on any customer complaints and quality issues pertaining to potential sanitation issues.
  • Assists in the direction of production personnel in sanitary, pest-control and allergen-control measures.
  • Confers with management, quality assurance, and production personnel on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of product.
  • Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate cleaning and sanitation activities.
  • Manage sanitation preventive maintenance program.
  • Follows instructions and responds to management or lead direction.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper chemical handling techniques while wearing the proper PPE.
  • Maintains all buildings by washing walls, ceilings, floors, removing trash and disinfects all water drains as needed.
  • Understands and practices appropriate safety procedures when performing work inside and around production equipment or at other locations in facility;

observe and follow appropriate lockout / tagout and fall protection practices as outlined by standard operating procedures and safety expectations

  • Develop standards and procedures for work staff, will be required to lead by example. Assists in the development, organization, and participation of staff in departmental training programs, provides on-going supervision and coaching to improve operations with positive reinforcement and goals.
  • Accountability for all departmental stock and inventory control. Periodically inventories supply and requisitions and distributes supplies and equipment;

places orders as required. Maintains records of supplies used.

  • Ensures GMP's are always met.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education / Requirements :

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent years’ related experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sanitation experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory / management experience required.
  • Knowledge of food safety principles as they apply in Production. These may include, but are not limited to :
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point)
  • Allergen Control; CFR Title 21 Part 117 (current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Hazard analysis
  • Risk-based Preventive Control For Human Food; CFR Title 21 Part 111 (current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in manufacturing, packaging, and holding of Dietary Supplements, NSF 455-2 / 3
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required; ERP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting automated Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to create effective cleaning schedules and manage resources efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work weekends (at least 50%) and 3rd shift hours as required by production schedules.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments and convey information effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to sanitation and equipment maintenance.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Responsible for training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;

addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Coordinates Company Cleaning Schedule activities
  • Full participation during food safety audits
  • Comply with Gluten Free and Allergen programs
  • Ensure Labor Contract is followed by all employees, and reports any potential violation.
  • Initiate disciplinary measures according to the Labor Contract.
  • Review hourly employees’ performance and identify training needs
  • Review and improve employee utilization
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates

Qualifications :

Education and / or Experience :

BA / BS Degree in Business- Food Science- Engineering or related field is preferred, 2 years of experience in supervisor role, 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

Computer Skills :

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer and keyboarding skills and have knowledge of and be competent in the use of Inventory and Maintenance Related Software. PLC experience a plus.

Physical Demands :

Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, or sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work, including twisting and reaching.

Climbing stairs, and / or vertical ladders of varying heights. Working in confined work areas and / or elevated heights.

Lifting objects of minimum of 10lbs, with maximum single-person lift limit of 50lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying.

Adapting to temperature changes, and prolonged exposure to wet, or hot, humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration. Visually inspecting equipment and verifying information, often in small print.

Work Environment :

Work is performed throughout the plant. Mobility to all areas of a multi-level facility. Requires exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, moving equipment, heights, wetness, fumes, vibrations, dust, etc.
