Compensation
The estimated pay for this position is $18.1146 to $22.2786. The rates shown include a 6% premium pay (base= $-$ plus 6%). This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. In addition, this position may be eligible for participation and company contributions into the Kern County Employees’ Retirement Plan.
Definition:
Under direction, to have a broad range of storekeeping responsibilities in a storeroom/warehouse containing a variety of supplies, materials and equipment.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the fully qualified working level of the Storekeeper series. Incumbents in this class are required to know the full range of storeroom, warehouse, record keeping and inventory practices and procedures. The position is expected to perform with minimum supervision and exercise independent judgment. Assignments may be made to a variety of departments where the incumbent must be knowledgeable of any special treatment needed for materials, equipment and supplies unique to that department. Promotions to the non-flexible classification of Storekeeper II are based on competitive examination.

Employment Standards:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent AND one (1) years of responsible storekeeping.
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License by time of appointment.
Knowledge of:
Storeroom and stock control methods and procedures; manifests, bills of lading and/or other receiving documents;
Ability to:
Estimate future supply needs and develop procedures for insuring that adequate stocks are available; keep and oversee the maintenance of accurate records; utilize personal or mainframe computers; handle heavy or bulky shipments without damaging; organize and direct others; work independently and exercise good judgment; and maintain proper public relations.

All Kern Medical employees are designated “Disaster Service Workers”. In the event of a disaster or civil disorder, all Kern Medical employees are to remain at work or to report to work in a safe and practicable manner.
If position responsibilities require driving a personal vehicle, then possession of a current valid California Driver’s License and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.
If position responsibilities require driving a vehicle owned, leased or rented by Kern Medical, then possession of a current valid California Driver’s license, a signed authorization for Release of Drivers Record Information and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.

Since our beginning in 1867, Kern Medical has served as an integral part of the community. Our 222-licensed bed acute care teaching hospital and outpatient clinics offer many services unavailable to the rest of the community.
