This position is responsible for preventing and responding to emergencies by upholding all Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Standards. Lifeguards must ensure safe and efficient attraction operation while providing exceptional guest service and creating memories worth repeating.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administer CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary, per Ellis & Associates training and operational standards.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with park policies and standards, including wearing proper uniform at all times.
  • Maintain attraction and surrounding area cleanliness.
  • Enforce all park policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitor guest activity to maintain a safe swimming and deck environment.
  • Inspect the facility and equipment on a daily basis and report safety issues to your supervisor.
  • Attend four (4) hours of mandatory in-service training each month.
  • Complete all assigned documentation including Safety Training Plans (STPs).
  • Ensure attraction throughput is gathered and documented on the Attraction Throughput Sheet.
  • Consistently operate attractions according to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide clear verbal instructions to guests.
  • Engage guests on attractions and in queue areas when not in a lifeguarding position (e.g., slide dispatch, lifejacket attendant, etc.).
  • Resolve guest concerns when possible, calling for assistance when necessary.

Additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  •  Minimum of 16 years old.
  • Must already know how to swim.
  • Ability to maintain current certification in the following (All trainings & certifications are provided by the employer): 
  1. Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training ProgramTM – Special Facilities Lifeguard or Shallow Water Lifeguard
  2. Aquatics Safety Training
  3. Attraction-specific training for all assigned areas.
  4. Monthly Safety-Critical Standards sign-off
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays and after school.
  • Participation in all required training sessions.
  • Physical ability to bend over and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in all pre-season and in-service training sessions.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks at a “test-ready” level at all times.
  • Strong understanding of and focus on safety and guest service. 
  • Ability to display and live our Lead with Love principles by being: patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, respectful, humble, and dedicated.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner.
  • Ability to enforce attraction and park policies in a guest friendly manner.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to changes as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of safety, guest service, efficiency, and cleanliness.
  • Ability to consistently meet park, HFE, and E&A standards. 
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Detail oriented and punctual.
  • Ability to have a minimum of 20/25 or 20/25 corrected vision with no permanent abnormalities of either eye.
  • Ability to wear corrective lenses as needed to assure a minimum of 20/25 vision while wearing sunglasses.
  • Ability to sit, walk, run, and stand on concrete, uneven surfaces, and in the water for 10 hours.
  • Ability to climb steps with good balance.
  • Ability to tolerate noise and heights.
  • Ability to maintain stamina in all weather conditions including direct sun, rain, wind, high humidity, etc.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and/or stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to push and/or pull rafts.
  • Ability to project voice and clearly speak with authority to direct guests who are acting in an unsafe manner.
  • Knowledge of departmental and park-wide policies. 

All candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Candidates 18 years or older must complete a pre-employment background check.
