    Position Type: Full Time Registered Behavior Technician to serve, evaluate, and support students in northern Kent County’s regional program(s) for students with emotional impairments located in Kent City Community Schools

    NOTICE OF VACANCY FOR 2022/2023 SCHOOL YEAR

    Position Type: Registered Behavior Technician Special Education (1.0 FTE)

    Summary:
    Provide comprehensive mental health and behavioral supports for students within the Regional Program for Students with Emotional Impairments and their school families; address barriers that limit a student from receiving full benefit of their educational experience. These initiatives typically involve working with teams in developing communication, social, functional, and pre-academic skills as well as reduction of negative behaviors.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
    (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
    • Work alongside the classroom staff in Regional EI programs
    • Respond to assignments provided by classroom staff and/or special education director
    • Model for staff by working with children to provide intensive behavioral instruction, including discrete trial teaching, natural environment teaching, small group instruction, and skill-based treatment
    • Provide support and modeling to staff to make the most of their efforts in making instructional strategies universal across all areas of the student’s school environment
    • Support teams in establishing data collection systems by modeling and collecting data
    • Accept feedback and fidelity checks in a professional manner and respond appropriately
    • Effectively communicate and collaborate with teachers, itinerant staff, paraprofessionals, and other staff
    • Maintain student confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information and adhere to FERPA rules and guidelines
    • Participate in regular meetings and trainings
    • Maintain the high ethical standards as denoted by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB©)
    • Other duties as assigned
    • A clear understanding of the FBA and PBSP process. The ability to create, implement, and collect data on Functional Behavioral Supports and Positive Behavioral Support Plans (FBA/PBSP), is preferred, but will have opportunities for professional learning around these topics.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Interpersonal relationship strengths to ensure that all stakeholders have connections and clear understanding of the goals of the regional program.

    • Commitment to lifelong learning as demonstrated by attendance at seminars, in-services, and training as appropriate.
    Education & Experience:
    • Minimum of high school diploma
    • A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
    • Previous school experience working with children with a variety of needs / disabilities, including emotional and / or behavioral challenges is preferred
    • Have completed the RBT training hours (if not already certified or taken comparable coursework this will need to be done within 90 days of hire)
    Physical Requirements:
    • Some standing, walking, moving, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, and handling required.
    • Ability to use CPI restraints.
    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
    Compensation:
    • $140 per day per Edustaff contract
