Summary: Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other professionals in providing literacy instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Education/Qualifications:
Valid Michigan teaching certification;
Masters Degree in Education with concentration in Literacy/Reading preferred;
Minimum of three (3) years experience in an elementary school or equivalent environment;
Bilingual skills helpful;
Training/Experience/Responsibilities:
Current knowledge of research and effective practices in the areas of literacy development and literacy instruction;
Provide and support literacy assessment and data analysis;
Coordinate literacy support and serve as a resource for teachers and families;
Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible, responsible work style;
High level of planning and organizational skills;
Ability to develop a positive relationship with students;
Ability to relate and work effectively with parents, staff, students, and the public in a multicultural and multiracial community;
Knowledge and awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others;
Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and patrons of the District;
Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage;
