Construction Estimator

Result Statement:

This position is responsible for the following result-

To complete estimating and preconstruction to ensure total project success, while delivering superior value to our clients and achieving the company’s profitability goals.

Standards:

Position Specific:

1. Estimates and proposals will be completed on time to allow internal review and presentation to the client by the established deadline.

2. Estimates and schedules will be created with an extremely high level of detail to ensure accuracy and completeness.

3. Proposals should be completed in an appealing and professional manner to become a key sales tool.

Tactical Work:

1. Assemble extraordinary project teams of dedicated subcontractors and suppliers that will ensure total project success and client satisfaction.

2. Provide our clients with exceptional value and meet the company’s profitability goals through value engineering, obtaining best of market pricing, evaluating alternative design/construction methods, and fostering subcontractor competition.

3. Represent Kendale and develop relationships with potential trade partners in new project locations. Gain the interest and confidence of the very best contractors in the local market.

4. Through detailed analysis, ensure total scope coverage and subcontractor understanding of the project’s unique demands and challenges so that construction is efficient, smooth, and accelerated schedules are met or exceeded.

5. Ensure all project costs (both apparent and obscure) are accurately reflected in the estimate.

6. Review design documents for potential errors or conflicts and resolve these before the completion of subcontractor quoting. This is the final and vital quality control process of the design phase in the design/build process.

7. During the initial bidding or budgeting phase, leverage your knowledge of and experience with construction methods and design concepts to provide pricing and project schedules with often limited information.

8. Prepare project schedules. Identify and resolve potential challenges such as lead times, subcontractor backlogs, etc. Review the schedule and anticipated task durations with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the schedule can be met and our projections are accurate.

9. Through thorough analysis and innovation, we will determine methods and designs which provide our client with the same quality and intended result but at a lower cost, giving Kendale a competitive advantage.

10. Additional efforts related to preconstruction and project management as requested.

1. Create new processes to improve the company’s estimating efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.

2. Develop strategic partnerships with subcontractors and suppliers, yielding Kendale advantages over our competitors.

3. Develop new opportunities and partnerships with current and potential clients.
