Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a leading community partner serving the Norfolk, VA region providing acute, residential and partial hospitalization treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and/or mental health concerns. Our programs are designed to treat your child or teen in a secure, therapeutic environment, and we are set to add 24 brand new beds to our facility later this year. The strength of Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health lies in the expertise of our highly tenured team and full accreditation by The Joint Commission for demonstrating compliance to the standards that govern quality healthcare. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities. These accreditations and licenses have stringent conditions and quality of care standards. This allows us to provide the best care.

The Director of Nursing
is a key member of the Kempsville Center Leadership Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric nursing strategy with a keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The DON participates in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The Director of Nursing will focus on 5 key areas: People, Service, Quality, Growth, and Finance

Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
  • Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of VA.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program; Master of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Three or more years of progressive nursing management experience in behavioral health setting
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment
