The Procurement Specialist will engage in strategic sourcing and assist in optimizing operational support in accordance with direction from the Senior Manager of Vendor Relations & Procurement. Must become a capable, hands-on operative capable of immediate action and prioritizing multiple projects.
Essential Functions:
  • Support procurement functions and maintain all aspects of purchasing, negotiations, strategy, tool, and process implementation for procurement related to goods and services
  • Negotiate favorable contractual terms and conditions with suppliers
  • Process quotes and RFPs in an urgent manner for decision making and COR approval
  • Prioritize assignments in accordance with guidance while meeting established deadlines
  • Communicate potential solutions and business problems to management
  • Assist with suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement-related problems and issues
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and maintain resources needed to provide an effective supply chain
  • Coordinate inventories of materials and supplies located in the company, to include locations and utilization dates
  • Analyze current inventories and procedures; suggest improvements to leaders to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company
  • Support management policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; communicate enhancement concepts to existing processes
  • Learn and perform pricing negotiation for materials and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with vendors and communicating opportunity identification for new services
  • Perform purchasing functions such as negotiating contracts, pricing, making purchases, and establishing service agreements with suppliers and vendors
  • Derive savings via volume, recurring, and pre-negotiated arrangements
  • Coordinate with staff and vendors to ensure timely and accurate arrival of products and services
  • Maintain spreadsheets in SharePoint and Smartsheet's. Upload documents such as requisitions, quotes, RFPs, order acknowledgements, tracking information, and invoices for document retention
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Ability to act on problems enhancing organizational & customer understanding
  • Work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Business acumen with aptitude for influencing and effective communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade, and influence customers
  • Strong professional discipline
  • Utmost devotion to our team members and culture
  • Capable of meeting tight deadlines while working in a rapid, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work effectively when dealing with limited information and seek details for effectiveness
  • Ability to work flexible hours. We operate 24/7/365
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, preferred
  • Two plus years' experience in procurement, setting procurement strategies, driving cost savings, and improving terms and conditions
  • Experience in vendor relations and procurement, ideally with a federal contractor
  • Experience with teams and customer relations
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check after accepting a conditional offer of employment
