Kelber Catering Inc., conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis, has a supervisory position available in our Stewarding (Dishwasher) department. If you have cleaning service experience, preferably in a food and beverage setting and are looking for a great opportunity, we have it here.
We are a seven (7) day a week operation, with schedules varying week to week based on business needs. This is an hourly position eligible for performance based quarterly incentive bonuses. POSITION SUMMARY:
A Steward Supervisor assists the Senior Steward Supervisor in the operation and supervision of the stewarding staff. They will assign duties to the stewarding staff. This person would be expected to demand a high level of quality service, attitude and attire from the staff they are supervising. This individual would, at the direction of the Senior Steward Supervisor, provide on-going training for the steward staff. Strong communication and teamwork skills are necessary. This individual will have the ability to interact with other department managers. They must have the ability to read and interpret function and pull sheets. Supervising staff to ensure the timely execution of all deliveries. They will supervise and possess strong leadership skills. This individual must maintain a pleasant and professional disposition.
Job Duties:
Ensure the timely completion of all duties in this department. This includes but is not limited to:
Schedule the union stewards following the CBA, based upon business needs, and accessing any additional staffing needs.
He/she is responsible for training newly hired Stewards on procedures and policies of this department.
Directing & supervising work duties for union stewards, checking them in and monitoring meal periods and breaks.
Properly interpret function sheets, drawing out the responsibilities of the Stewarding Department.
Must possess the ability to read and comprehend a pull list, and accurately complete the banquet pull sheet.
This person would be expected to demand a high level of quality service, attitude and attire from the staff they are leading.
Conducting a morning (beginning of the shift) and closing (end of the shift) walk through.
The Steward Supervisor will assist the Senior Steward Supervisor in the accurate inventory of china and other necessary equipment.
The Steward Supervisor will assist the Senior Steward Supervisor in the scheduling of maintenance on kitchen equipment.
Knowledgeable in State Health department cleaning and sanitation guidelines and standards.
Maintain all work areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. During and at the completion of each shift.
Maintain a pleasant and courteous manner when dealing with Kelber, Convention Center staff clients and guests.
Properly handle emergency situations within KCI and MCC guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
Availability: Must be fully available.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English. BI-Lingual preferred. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the cleaning service industry. Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience; prefer experience in the food industry.
Physical: Lift and carry 50 pounds. Additional lifting of over 50 pounds with assistance. Walk long distances, bending, twisting, lifting and reaching, pushing and pulling.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
