Position Overview:
The Aran Biomedical Engineering Lab for Diagnostics and Therapeutics at Keck Graduate Institute aims to forge novel platforms of analysis and diagnostics for future translational applications by integrating multiple academic disciplines to create novel device solutions that address unmet clinical needs. We are seeking a full time Laboratory Coordinator to help maintain the laboratory to facilitate overall research, including ordering & maintaining supplies and monthly schedules, managing inventory, maintenance of scientific equipment, and organizational and clerical support tasks.

Education and Experience:
A successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in working in a lab setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The position requires being able to work with complex laboratory equipment and computer programs used to perform experiments. The appointed individual must have compassion when working/helping/training students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Dexterity, particularly when working with small vials, test tubes, cell culture media, and delicate lab equipment

Able to work independently, and as a team member, in an academic setting
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Individuals must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Produce, maintain and organize documents, drafts and reports; photocopy, fax, etc.
Arrange schedules for meeting space and conference rooms
Plan lab events, meetings, and team building activities or special projects
Help prepare reports, presentations, and data
Assist in writing and preparing grant applications
Maintain laboratory supplies equipment; troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies; perform preventive maintenance when needed. Maintain inventory
Maintain documents/ information by keeping daily logs and equipment record books
Enhance the laboratory's reputation by accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Participate in lab preparation and lab safety audits
Other duties may be assigned by the Supervisor
Hours, Classification, and Status:
This is a part-time, hourly position. The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.
Hourly rate range: $18.00 - 22.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
Special Requirements:

Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans.
Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books, and packages.
