Job Description:
The Instructor and Capstone Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating practical experience sites, monitoring students' performance during the capstone experience, and working closely with site administrator(s) and liaison(s). Responsible for establishing capstone sites and supervising those relationships with community partners, as well as tracking hours toward completion for students and evaluating the student's success based upon ongoing supervision feedback. As an instructor in the program, the Capstone Coordinator teaches capstone courses in the first year of the program.
Education and Experience
The successful candidate will possess a Master's degree or higher from a United States Department of Education recognized accredited program, with at least three years of teaching and/or clinical experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Capstone Coordinator responsibilities 80%
Assist with operating and maintenance of the Capstone Site database and other software programs, including internal databases and web-based programs for tracking clinical/organization sites.
Support, advise and mentor students.
Assist students with the capstone proposals and affiliation agreement process.
Maintain relationship with capstone sites to assist in determining whether they meet the School's criteria for such sites, and provide a summary report to the Dean.
Work directly with organizations/institutions that have been approved as capstone sites to provide guidance and support in meeting the School's educational requirements.
Serve as a liaison between supervisors and students in the MSCM program for issues related to the capstone education.
Communicate with sites as needed (either in-person, phone, email) to resolve problems with sites and students as they arise.
Maintain ongoing documentation of coordination activities in the manner specified by the Dean.
Provide bi-weekly reports to the Dean documenting specific activities performed, time spent in travel and performing activities, outcomes achieved, and follow-up plans for each site visit. Itemized documentation of all travel-related expenses must be retained and submitted for appropriate reimbursement according to school guidelines.
Participate in web/phone meetings periodically with the School of Community Medicine.
Oher duties as assigned by the Dean, School of Community Medicine.
Teaching 20%
Manage and teach Capstone I course.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and web-based programs.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the Institute and with outside constituencies.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification and project management skills.
Ability to present complex information easily and accurately.
Ability to function both independently and within a team.
Experience in a higher educational setting is preferred.
General knowledge of medical terminology or general concepts is preferred.
Must be able to handle flexible hours, able and willing to work weekend and evening hours, as needed.
Hours, Classification, and Status:
This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.
The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.
Salary range: $64,480-$70,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
Special Requirements:

Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to details with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans.
This is generally a sedentary role; it requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and the manual dexterity to operate a computer for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 lbs., move tables (set up for events) as necessary, ability to drive locally. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off-campus.
