Under the direction of the Head Kid’s Camp Counselor, responsible for the supervision and interaction of children in Sports Camp

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

1. Responsible for the safety and operation of a Recreation youth program
2. Greet parents as they come in to drop off their children
3. Orient parents in regard to policies and procedures that must be followed
4. Assist with the planning, development, and organization of activities for the program
5. Attentively watch and attend to the children in the program
6. Ensure that all activities for each day are planned and prepared in advance
7. Participate with the children in their activities, including swimming, if applicable
8. Ensure that all children are involved with the activities and adjust programs as needed to closely match the children’s skills and abilities
9. Discipline children, when necessary, using appropriate and authorized disciplinary techniques
10. Treat children if hurt and fill out accident reports

1.  Responsible for maintaining the professional atmosphere of the Fitness Center
2. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be dressed in proper uniform
3. Handle patron complaints and/or comments or refer them to the proper personnel
4. Maintain positive public relations for the Facility
5. Give excellent customer service to the patrons and their children
6. Help keep the Fitness Center clean and uncluttered
7. Set a positive example for other employees to follow

1. Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other employees and management
2. Attend all staff meetings
3. Provide input for the program
4. Discuss any problems or concerns with appropriate personnel

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. At least 15 years of age
2. Must submit to a criminal background check
3. Previous experience working with children
4. Excellent public relations skill
5. Ability to relate well with children and be patient with them
6. Ability to work under stressful conditions
7. Willingness to assist others
8. Ability to hold all matters related to staff and patrons as confidential and to discuss related matters with only the appropriate individuals

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Willing and available to work during scheduled times
2. Moderate physical activity including walking, running, swimming, etc.
3. Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching, and bending
4. May have a few disagreeable elements such as noise, poor ventilation, or extreme or uneven temperatures
5. Must work inside and outside
6. Intermittent exposure to stress
