    SUMMARY: Prepares and cooks meals for AL residents while maintaining compliance with kosher laws. Serves residents, cleans up after meal and resets for the next meal. Sets an example of positive customer relations by means of a positive attitude and helpful approach to residents and staff. Provides breakfast and lunch service for Independent living residents on a cash sale basis Monday-Friday.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as assigned.

    Prepares and serves Lunch and dinner meals to AL residents, which includes baking and desserts, following Health Department and kosher guidelines.

    –Sets up serving line.
    –Assists with serving.
    –Cleans up after meals and keeps area clean while working.
    –Cleans up all used equipment on a daily basis.
    –Makes suggestions for new menu items as needed
    –Ensures the effective use of leftovers.
    –Provides information pertaining to the amount of food used shortages and monitors resident feedback.
    –Makes sure food is served at the correct temperatures by taking and recording temperatures prior to serving.
    –Monitors the coolers and freezers. Records temperatures and reports any problems with the equipment.
    –Makes sure all leftover items are labeled / dated.
    –Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 2‑5 years quantity cooking experience with a kosher background preferred.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to be able to work with simple fractions and do basic arithmetic to build and reduce recipes.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to follow recipes.

  • Part Time Server

    Hiring Rate: $17.50hr-$18.50/hr
    27 hours/week

    We are currently seeking a customer-focused Part-Time Server to provide Kavod residents with a pleasant dining experience. Candidates must be comfortable working with older adults in a multi-cultural setting. Reliability is a must.

    SUMMARY: Assist with accurate food delivery to residents in a timely manner, assist with special events (such as birthdays or holidays), handle food and beverages in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards, and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory procedures regarding food service. Training is provided!

    SCHEDULE: Sunday 12:00pm-6:00pm and Monday-Friday 3:30pm-7:30pm

    –Deliver food to residents in a timely manner and accurately

    Job Responsibilities:

    Provides non-scheduled cleaning of residents’ apartments on a PRN basis during times housekeeper is not available.

    Provides assistance with residents’ linens, laundry and ironing.

    Provides assistance with residents’ bathing, grooming and hair care. This assistance is unique to each resident and determined through the Individual Resident Care Plan.

    Provides monitoring of residents’ medication routine as specified by State regulations and Kavod Assisted Living medication policies and procedures.

    Provides assistance for residents with dressing and undressing as determined through the Individual Resident Care Plan.

    Provides encouragement and guidance for residents’ development of self-care capabilities and personal hygiene, as needed. Assists with AL meals to assure a pleasurable dining experience for residents; i.e. assist residents to make food choices, help serve, cut up food.

    Escorts residents to meals and building activities, as needed. Personal and physical assistance such as lifting, transferring, or carrying will not be done by staff.

    Provides regular contact checks and reassurance for residents and document anything out of the ordinary.

    Maintains a positive attitude with residents, families and community members to ensure the agency standards for good service are achieved.

    Provides other non-medical services as deemed appropriate to assist residents in regaining and retaining independence from a physical setback.

    Works with the Assisted Living team and agency staff to assist with special projects.

    Responds to resident emergencies by following Kavod’s Resident Emergency Procedures & Guidelines.

    Performs additional agency custodial services as designated by the Director of Assisted Living.

    Attends monthly staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Assisted Living and/or Kavod’s Management team.

    Assists and/or facilitates AL activities as assigned by the Director of Assisted Living.

    Encourages residents to attend activities.

    Completes necessary training for Assisted Living staff required by the various regulating agencies on a timely basis.

    Avails him/herself to work back up for fellow workers.

    Complies with all HIIPA and CDPHE regulations regarding the rights of the residents and the organization to confidentiality. Information of the agency and the residents should never be given out except through normal channels and with appropriate authorization.

    Job Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and he/she must read, write and speak English. Fulfillment of all training and other regulatory requirements (i.e. QMAP certification, First Aid/CPR training). Experience providing personal care and housekeeping for elderly and/or certified nurse’s aide training is helpful, but not required.

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or smell.
