Who we're looking for

Connected Technologies is a group within Toyota, focused on delivering industry-leading user experiences and new technologies for our Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

We're looking for a passionate and highly motivated Software Engineer I for our growing OTA team! You'll be responsible for designing, coding & architecture of high performing applications to ensure they meet the functional & non-functional requirements of our infotainment/multimedia systems. You'll also provide support and direction to net new requirements and work through intakes.

This role provides autonomy to support software development and ensure that applications are designed with operational considerations in mind. You'll need to use your problem solving & critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve code as well as customer reported issues as they arise. Finally, you'll collaborate, engage, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and represent Toyota in 3rd Party Engineering discussions.

What you'll be doing:

• Software Development and Delivery - write well-defined and tested code; assess and mitigate risks, unblock teams, and resolve conflicts.
• System Design, Architecture, and Service Implementation - assess options, gauge stakeholder feedback, and decide path forward for overall system.
• System Integration, QA and Launch Readiness - develop launch readiness documentation, fix integration issues, forecast friction points and proactively address them.
• Operational Improvements - root cause analysis, and countermeasure selections; make key strategic decisions on technology lifecycle (e.g., when and what to sunset, uplift, etc.).
• Novel IP generation - generate & lead market research and engineering patent as well as IP protection activities. This includes working with Legal and IP teams.

What you bring:

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, and/or related degree.
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as: Golang, Java and/or Python.
• Professional and/or internship experience in software development.
• Reasonable experience with cloud services (AWS - [lambda, ECS, EKS); GCP; Azure), cloud engineering architecture, and software as a service.
• Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
• Ability to communicate well with development teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Added Bonus if you have

• Software and/or electrical engineering background.
• Advanced experience in software development.
• Prior automotive experience.
• Exposure to launching an application in production.
