Position

Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, is seeking a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for a majority of the detail work necessary to maintain accounting records for the firm, produce monthly and ad hoc financial reports, and provide informative financial analysis. 

• Analysis and reconciliation of key accounts, including bank accounts, AR, and deferred revenue. Review for completeness, and need for adjustment
• Preparation of journal entries for both monthly recurring entries and other adjustments
• General accounting responsibilities including support for A/P, A/R G/L
• Income statement analysis to provide variance explanations
• Monthly client billing including travel expense reconciliation
• Month end close procedures, prepare reports, identify discrepancies
• Analyze and reconcile deferred revenue recognition
• Responsible for reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including cash, AR, deferred revenue, payables
• Provide backup support for other accountants in the department as necessary
• Specific projects as needed

Qualifications

In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following:

• Must have at least 2 - 6 years relevant financial accounting experience in a corporate environment or public accounting setting
• Proficient to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Applicants for employment must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Kaufman Hall (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.

Physical Requirements 

• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
• Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Work Environment 

• Travel Required: None
• The role is: based in Chicago
• Work is regularly performed in a combination of in office and home office settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment.
